You cannot claim VAT back on rentals unless you are a registered company who is paying for the stairlift and also VAT registered.
Once your house has a straight staircase and there’s a plug socket nearby to the stairs, then that’s all that’s needed for providing a stairlift rental.
It’s always better to be able to gauge how long you want to rent for prior to booking, as in some cases we can offer a cheaper rate or may recommend a reconditioned lift instead.
It takes around 2-3 hours to install a stairlift depending on the complexity of the job.
Stairlift rental prices vary depending on the length of time needed and your location. There’s also a fixed fee that is charged prior to the rental to cover the cost of installation and removal once the rental was over with. It’s advised to Contact Us for a free quote to suit your requirements.
If we discover an issue during the service we will advise you of your options. The benefit of booking a service in the first place is to check to see if there’s any underlying or unnoticed issues that could deteriorate further.
Each stairlift service we provide covers and extensive amount of items on our list, this includes:
- Checking of all nuts, bolts and screws relating to the stairlift and tightening up of same, replace where appropriate.
- Testing of stairlift and remote control batteries to ensure they are in good working order.
- Checking of any wiring and PCB boards to ensure there’s no corrosion or damage.
- Test and inspection of the main drive motor (pinion) and the teeth (racking) of the stairlift rail.
- Full top to bottom damage check to ensure there’s no dangers or potential future issues.
Once a stairlift service has been carried out, we will send via post or email a full check sheet so you know what’s been carried out.
Service of a stairlift including replacement batteries, greasing etc can take roughly an hour depending on the type of stairlift you have.

If your stairlift is too old and it’s a case we cannot source parts to repair it, then you’ll be offered the option of replacing your stairlift or opting out of the repair altogether. However, please note that there still will be a charge for coming out in the event this is discovered on the day we are calling out to repair it.

Assuming we’ve got the parts on board, a standard repair can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes depending on the issue. If the issue is of a serious nature we’ll inform you prior to going ahead with a longer repair so there’s no nasty surprises.
Most of the time it’s batteries that can stop stairlifts from working, signs are the stairlifts stop randomly when travelling upstairs. Alongside this, we’ve seen other issues like failed sensors etc.

Warranty for a new stairlift is 2 years where our reconditioned stair lifts come with a 1 year warranty.
The stairlift is actually powered with batteries and they recharge at the top or bottom of the rail, these stairlifts will work during a power cut thanks to them batteries.
For straight stairlifts we can normally have it fitted a couple hours of arrival, however the curved stairlifts would require up to 4-5 hours depending on how complicated the stairs are.
Manufacturers strongly recommend you get your stairlift serviced every year to ensure it’s running smoothly and doesn’t have any undetected issues.
We can fit most types of stairlift within a few days of receipt of an order. This is the case with straight stairlifts mostly as generally custom made stairlifts can take a number of weeks to get made.
If there’s a door immediately at the bottom of the stairs then the stairlift would have to incorporate a folding track to ensure it’s not a trip hazard.
No, stairlifts are fitted directly to the stairs with at least 4 mounting brackets and would be more secure than a wall.
